Phyllis got her start working for the Justice Department in DC in the 1960s, as a paralegal in the Civil Rights Division. Her work took her to Selma, AL, during the times of the historic March to Montgomery in 1965.  In the decades that followed, she’s been a newspaper columnist, teacher, and author.
