Mr. Met - New York Mets

Mr. Met has been the mascot of the New York Mets ever since their third season as an expansion team in 1964. He is baseball’s first live mascot having started with the Mets on April 14, 1964. Mr. Met visits with and entertains fans at Citi Field. When he is not at the stadium, he is active throughout the New York area visiting hospital and schools and doing other good work in the community. Mr. Met has always been loved by Mets fans and was there for the Miracle Mets in 1969 when the team went from being a yearly last place finisher to World Champions over the Baltimore Orioles. Unfortunately, Mets management decided to send him down to the minor leagues in the 1970s. However, in response to requests from long term Mets fans, and the popularity of “upstart” Mascots like the San Diego Chicken, the Mets brought Mr. Met back from AAA ball for the 1994 season and he has been a regular at home games ever since.
