As one of the game's most prolific second basemen of all time, he won eight- yes, eight- Gold Glove awards. He also made key contributions during the Royals' playoff runs throughout the 1980's, including winning the 1980 ALCS MVP award and leading the team in runs batted in during the 1985 World Series Championship in which the Royals prevailed (largely in part because of his efforts).
