Small Fisk Coffin Necklace (2 inch) *Mockingbird Lane Exclusive*
ABOUT: Fisk Metallic Burial Cases were created and patented by Almond Dunbar Fisk in 1848 in Queens, NY. Almond was originally a stove manufacturer. His brother passed away far from home, and back in those days it was impossible to transport a body hundreds of miles to have a burial in their home town. Almond created the Fisk coffins to be air tight, so the deceased could be transported long distance, fully preserved, back to their family. A mini replica of a Fisk coffin was created into a pendant using a process called electroform; depositing pure copper plating onto items using chemicals and electricity. The finished copper piece was then plated over with a thick layer of fine silver. This piece has been 3D scanned from the original salesman’s sample paperweight that resides in my personal collection. This piece is tumble polished, a darkening patina has been added to bring out the details, lacquered, and suspended from an 18 inch chain. *Please note that patina color may vary
