Local, small batch roasted, veteran owned, Model Citizen Coffee Company's Indian Monsoon Malabar comes from the Malabar Coast and Karnataka/Kerala. The name is derived from the monsoon winds off the southern coast of India. It gives it a very distinctive flavor akin to a classic Sumatran. The heavy mouth feel goes nicely with its earthy, chocolate notes.  We roast this one medium to bring about the earthy flavor. Fun fact: Did you know that coffee in India is traditionally grown in the shade? Unlike many other coffee-producing regions where coffee is grown in direct sunlight, Indian coffee plantations often use a two-tier shade canopy to protect the coffee plants.
