DEEP RED BATTUTO CYCLONE VASE
A beautiful, deep cranberry red, art glass vase, with a cyclone “footprint” and a particularly nice, overall battuto finish. The Italian word for ‘struck’ or ‘beaten,’ battuto refers to a cold-working technique in which glass is cut or ground into to create small, irregular facets on its surface, with the result resembling beaten metal. Traditionally, battuto is achieved using a grinding wheel or glass lathe, but hand grinders will also work. As with many cold-working techniques, attaining a good battuto finish can be time-consuming!
