
Jesus: Homeless on Purpose (KJV)
WHEN WAS JESUS HOMELESS ... AND WHY?The Lord Jesus was born in a stable while His mother and foster father were away from home (Luke 2:4-7). As a young child He was a refugee in Egypt, fleeing Herod’s efforts to murder Him (Matthew 2:13-15). Later the family settled in Nazareth (Matthew 2:19-23) and He spent His boyhood and young manhood in a modest home. However, at about the age of 30, He left that home to travel about Galilee and Judea for three years, teaching, preaching, and healing. He said of Himself during that time, “The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay His head” (Matthew 8:20). He owned only His clothes. At the end of the three years He was arrested, falsely accused, and crucified.The Lord Jesus was not always poor and homeless. Before He came to this earth He had glory (John 17:5) and was rich (2 Corinthians 8:9). Why, then, did He leave that glory to come to this earth and endure homelessness, mistreatment, and
