
The Liberty Bell (KJV)
On July 4th, 1776, the day of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the bell pictured on the cover rang out its joyous message of liberty and thus became known as the Liberty Bell. For many years, it was rung to commemorate special occasions. However, on one such occasion it cracked, never to ring again. It is know on display at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, where thousands come to view it each year. The bell is lettered around its crown with the words:PROCLAIM LIBERTY THROUGHOUT ALL THE LAND UNTO ALL THE INHABITANTS THEREOF - LEVITICUS 25:10The Scripture quotation inscribed on the bell refers to the sounding of a trumpet after the sacrifice was made on the great day of atonement for the people of Israel.
