
Pair of Attic Red-Figured Glaux
Origin: Mediterranean Circa: Mid 5th Century BC Dimensions: 3.5" Height x 4.25" Diameter; 6.75" Width including Handles (8.8 cm x 10.8 cm; 17.1 cm)Medium: Terracotta A charming pair, with the usualy disparate glaux handles, one vertical strap and one horizontal. One of the pair is slightly larger than the other, with a seated, draped winged Nike playing the aulos, and on the other side an Eros with his wings splayed, running to the right but looking back, holding a filet between his oustretched hands. The other glaux with a draped female, standing in profile to the right before a stele, wearing a long chiton and a himation pulled over her head, while the other side shows a youth in profile looking to the left, his body and left arm wrapped in a himation, his right arm extended outward, holding an undulating staff.
