Threadfin Rainbow (Iriatherina werneri)

Iriatherina werneri, the Threadfin Rainbow, is a peculiar-looking rainbowfish with very long fins and a very elaborate courtship display. Males turn on a gold nuptial band, flicking and cracking their whip-like fins to entice females into mops and deter rival males from spawning with their mates. This species attains a maximum size of roughly 3 inches and plays nicely with peaceful, non-boisterous fish of similar size as well as nano fish. With enough plants and moss cover, this species is likely baby shrimp-safe too.
