Native to shady, coastal cliffs in Japan, this species prefers moist soil. Upright clumps with long elegant foliage provide a lush background for the fat, cylindrical spikes of long, trumpet-shaped clear pink flowers with deep violet calyces. Long blooming, from July on. Grows to 18 inces tall and wide. A most unusual looking catmint. Leaves are not scented.
