Uganda Mbale Silverback
We’re excited to introduce Uganda NKG Bloom Silverback—the first Arabica offering from the NKG Bloom Uganda initiative! Grown in Bulambuli, a district in Eastern Uganda near the Kenyan border at the foot of Mt. Elgon, this coffee comes from a region with immense potential. Since 2022, Ibero—our NKG colleagues in Uganda—has been investing in the area, including the construction of the Bulambuli Washing Station. This state-of-the-art facility handles washing, pulping, fermenting, and drying coffees. Silverback is the result of the hard work of several cooperatives whose producer members are enrolled in NKG Bloom. Throughout the harvest season, these producers delivered their coffee cherries to the station, where they were assessed for quality, weighed, and floated to remove low-density or damaged beans, along with any debris. For the washed process, the selected cherries were machine-pulped, then fermented for 12 to 72 hours before being thoroughly washed. Finally, they were carefully dr
