One of my earliest recollections of my immigrant dad and uncles is shrouded in the scent of cigarettes, affectionately calling it "sutta" in their hometown Pakistani slang. They'd gather outside, a circle of stories and shared experiences, as they navigated the new terrain of America. They used to smoke the bold Marlboro Reds iconically symbolizing the spirit of the American West with the cowboyish, masculine, ruggedness, and notions of independence in their brand imagery. Perhaps, they enjoyed it more because it made them feel tapped into a deeply ingrained American archetype. I'm not sure. But either way, here's an Urdu take on Marlboro Reds that relates to that memory that I imagine others on here may relate to as well. Disclaimer: smoking is bad for you
