Assisi In Silence

The town of Assisi was the destination for many Jews fleeing persecution from the Italian government in the Second World War. This documentary takes a look at the actions of the Bishop of Assisi, Giuseppe Placido Nicolini, who saved every Jew who fled to his city during this turbulent time. Nicolini built up a hidden network of kindly souls who sheltered the Jews, and in this program, many of these people return to talk about their experiences.
