Corriente Vital (10 Anos)
After a decade as a street rhumba, hip-hop, and polyglot flamenco punk band -- and a few before that as a multi-disciplinary arts project -- Barcelona's Ojos de Brujo (Eyes of the Sorcerer) called it a day with a farewell tour. They left in their wake a slew of singles, three full-length studio albums, a live recording, and an album of remixes. Corriente Vital: 10 Anos is their recorded farewell. It contains new versions of songs from their various studio albums, a couple of new songs, remixes, collaborations with guest artists and producers (Nitin Sawhney, Orishas, Los Pericos, Juno Reactor, Manolo Garcia, and Jorge Drexler among them), and radio edits. For those who are familiar with the band's catalog, this is a welcome addition; for newcomers, a more suitable introduction might be 2002's Barí or 2006's Techarí. ~ Thom Jurek
