Country: Johnny Cash
While a ten-song Johnny Cash compilation is only going to skim the surface, you could do a lot worse than the selections here. Arguably one of the most important recording artists of the 20th century, many of Cash's signature songs came in the late '50's and '60s, the era covered in this brief collection. "I Walk the Line," "Ring of Fire," and the Live at Folsom Prison version of "Folsom Prison Blues" are all here, along with "A Boy Named Sue" and "Jackson," his classic duet with wife June Carter. Yes, it's a Man in Black highlight reel, and fine as they are, "Wabash Cannonball" and his cover of Hank Williams' "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" probably could have been replaced with better-known cuts, but there is certainly nothing here that could be considered filler. ~ Timothy Monger
