In the Haunted History series, the History Channel shows some of the most notoriously haunted places in cities around the world. This episode focuses on the area of the Rocky Mountains and how its history is affecting its present. Back in the days of the frontier, the Rockies were a booking area where thousands of people traveled from the East hoping to claim land and find better opportunities. Today, Colorado and Wyoming are more tourist areas than anything, but that does not stop some of the former residents from reappearing from time to time. Haunted History takes a look at the town of Buckskin Joe, where a former miner still walks around the area that used to be the sight of public hangings. In the Cripple Creek hotel, a frontier woman who died in the hotel is said to roam the halls, hiding room keys and lighting candles in the room in which she died. Witness accounts and interviews with historians add to these stories of the haunted West.
