Newsreel History of the Third Reich, Vol. 17

In lieu of presenting a factual and unbiased portrait of Nazi Germany during World War II, the series A Newsreel History of the Third Reich actually consists of distorted propaganda footage, shot and edited by the Nazis in such a way that it was intended to give German citizens a more glowing picture of the Reich's progress and development in the Second World War. The footage was collected by the Russians in 1945 and now appears, edited together, in this unique series. Volume 17 covers events from early 1944, including Rommel's inspections of fortifications and troops on the coast of the English channel, the sequence of events on the Western front, and the preparations of the Berlin-based military against bombing raids.
