In 1966, when futurism and innovation were pop's watchwords, the Birmingham combo stole riffs from Tchaikovsky and covered the pre-rock standard "Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart." In 1968, when rebellious anti-authoritarianism was the thing, the Move tidied up and went on the cabaret circuit. And in 1969, when "doing your own thing" was the catchphrase of the day, the Move went onstage at London's late, lamented Marquee and only did other people's things for this all-covers set.
