Acer carpinifolium 'Esveld Select' Dwarf Japanese Hornbeam Maple Zones 4-9 Acer carpinifolium 'Esveld Select' is a dwarf selection of a hornbeam maple with tight dense habit. This selection by Esveld Nursey in Holland has the same serrated elongated green foliage as the typical Japanese hornbeam maple, but has a much more compact habit with a layering appearance and a pyramidal form. 'Esveld Select' may reach 8 ft in 15 years.
