Murano Venetian Glass Water Fountain
An unquestionable masterpiece of Venetian glass artistry, this incredible fountain is the rarest and most fascinating form of Murano glass ever created. These fountains were masterpieces requiring tremendous skill and typically only made for special commissions, with no two forms being the same. Attributed to the studio of Gino Cenedese, this unique fixture stands over five feet high and is crafted of hand-worked Murano glass. Four voluptuous glass figures representing the Four Seasons encircle the basin with bouquets of glass flowers between them. At the center of each bloom is a spout from which water, or champagne, gently cascades into the basin, creating a dazzling effect amongst the rainbow of glistening glass. The pedestal is crafted entirely of cordonato d’oro, or “creased gold” glass, which incorporates fine 24-carat gold leaf. Venetian glass has been made for approximately the last 900 years. The art form was brought to the area by Byzantine craftsmen during the Middle Ages w
