We're all familiar with lithium batteries: they power our phones, laptops, and multitudes of other everyday products.  Yet most don't know the behind-the-battery story of how lithium is mined and turned into the power behind our everyday lives.  The War Below dives into the battery industry and the tensions it causes between inhabitants, conservationists, and the mining companies. Awarded the Financial Times 2024 "Book of the Year" Award. The author, Ernest Scheyder, is a graduate of the University of Maine and Columbia Journalism School.  He currently serves as a correspondent for Reuters covering critical minerals and the global energy sector.
