This high mountain summit was named in honor of General William Tecumseh Sherman - a general in the union army during the 1860 American civil war. Interestingly, this mountain summit is one of the few mountains recommended for beginner climbers due to its easy-to-climb features. Importantly, Mount Sherman is the only fourteener that has had a successful aircraft landing on its summit. Besides, it is regarded as the 45th fourteener in Colorado. Mount Sherman has a Mine known as the Sherman mine. This mine is on the west flank of the mountain located in the upper Iowa Gulch at 12,200 ft. In addition,
