Detailed Kiku gata style tsuba depicts a peacock tail with its feathers spread. The peacocks in Japanese culture are known for their beauty and grace when spreading their feathers. Also they are associated with the deity Kannon which symbolizes compassion and kind-heartedness. This damascus pattern blade features integrated Bo-Hi on the blade. Bo-Hi is commonly known as blood grooves, but that is a common misconception. The purpose of the Bo-Hi is to help reduce the weight of the katana, it actually has nothing to do with channeling the blood. Making the Katana lighter enables the user to wield the katana better and puts less stress on the hands.
