Antique Butterscotch Yellow Amber Sterling Pendant Brooch, Late 1800s

Such a beautiful gem, this antique sterling silver brooch features a large and beautiful Butterscotch Amber oval cabochon.  Butterscotch Amber is a type of amber that ages beautifully due to natural oxidization and turns darker and darker over time. Get lost in the beautiful swirl of this natural amber - an organic design that only Mother Nature could have created. Horizontally set on a perfectly patina'd silver backing, this lovely brooch features it's original, handmade and working "C" catch brooch clasp and a pendant clasp if you want to convert this to a necklace. A "C catch" was in use from about 1850 to 1910. Condition: Excellent. Clasp is in working condition.
