Each year, she embarks on a photographic journey crossing the American landscape, where recently she has photographed the geology, politics and culture of the borderland of the United States and Mexico. Sambunaris captures the remnants of a fire that had begun in Marfa, Texas and raged over 20 miles, ending at the road that horizontally bisects this vast landscape in Fort Davis, Texas. Victoria Sambunaris received her MFA from Yale University in 1999 and is currently a critic at the Yale School of Art. Her work is held in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Ar
