Caryatid in the Form of a Standing Nude (ca. 1912) As a young man, Modigliani ventured to the quarries of Carrara to hone his skills as a sculptor. His artistic curiosity later drew him to the traditional sculptures of Africa and Oceania, which profoundly influenced his work. To the best of our knowledge, Modigliani created 24 sculpted heads and only two full human figures, both inspired by the form and function of caryatids. The largest of these sculptures, carved from limestone and standing 1.6 meters tall, reflects a fascinating blend of archaic styles, merging influences from Cycladic art to Cambodian design. Lovely desktop statue for someone who appreciates modern art or is learning to draw in abstract shapes. Reproduction of Modigliani's Statue of a Nude measures: 11 in H x 2.5 in W x 2.25 in D. Weighs 1.8 lbs. It is made from resin with a yellow ochre stone finish. Comes with a description card in multiple languages. Part of the highly collectible Parastone Museum Collection
