Glass half dome paperweight with image a woman originally created by Alphonse Mucha for his advertising poster of 1897. In that color lithograph, a woman with a beautiful floral headpiece and long hair stands next to advertising a bottle of the liqueur La Trappistine placed on a table. Here in this paperweight, the elaborate patterning around the woman's head and her beauty is detailed as the focal point. Young Alphonse Mucha left for Vienna when he worked as an apprentice draughtsman for a studio which designed and decorated theater scenery. Upon his return to Moravia his talent was spotted by the wealthy Count Karl Khuen-Belasi, who enabled him to study at the Akademie der Bildenden Kunste in Munich. Mucha continued his studies in Paris. He made extra money
