Beaches Soundtrack RIAA Platinum Album Award

RIAA Platinum Album award for the soundtrack to the film Beaches. Released on Nov. 2, 1988, the album went Platinum for one million copies sold on May 16, 1989. The soundtrack album for the 1988 film starring Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey featured a tracks sung by Bette Midler, who also starred in the film. Included were several covers, such as "Under The Boardwalk", but also Midler's signature hit "Wind Beneath My Wings". It went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also won Grammy awards in 1990 for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. The album itself peaked at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart.
