Blue Ridge Rangers "Jambalaya (On The Bayou)" Fantasy Records award. The track, written and originally released by Hank Williams, became a hit for Blue Ridge Rangers, the group name that John Fogerty recorded under immediately after leaving Creedence Clearwater Revival. Fogerty reportedly so-named the "group" to disassociate himself with CCR and have a "fresh start," essentially as a solo artist since he is credited as having played all the instruments on the release. The track appeared on the 1973 self-titled album and, as a single, peaked at #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #15 in Canada. It also charted in several other countries. The album was later released under John Fogerty's name as well.
