RIAA Platinum 45 award for Bonnie Tyler single "Total Eclipse Of The Heart". Released on June 12, 1983 in the U.S., the single was certified Gold by the RIAA on Oct, 3, 1983 and Platinum on Sept. 18, 2001. This is likely a case in which then-official award maker Creative Glassics made the Platinum level award before the track was actually certified Platinum. It's also possible, given the clear success of this single, that there is a data error on the RIAA website. This is the third time we've had an award at the Platinum level for this title in our inventory presented to a bona fide radio industry executive. The track appeared on Tyler's fifth studio album entitled Faster Than the Speed of Night. Written by Jim Steinman, it went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the UK Top Singles and many other music charts around the world. Tyler was also nominated for the Grammy award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for the track. See image above for RIAA sales certifications of this single*.  M
