Buffalo Springfield Retrospective RIAA Platinum Album Award
RIAA Platinum Album award for the Buffalo Springfield album Retrospective: The Best Of Buffalo Springfield. Released on January 17, 1969 after the group disbanded in 1968, the album went Platinum for one million copies sold on April 12, 1989. In that the album was certified Gold also on this date, it is likely that the record label had not applied for RIAA certifications until that time, some 20 years after the album's release. Remember Buffalo Springfield bassist Bruce Palmer (1946-2004) and drummer Dewey Martin (1940-2009) with this award. The group in which both Neil Young and Stephen Stills first made their mark first had a major hit with the Stills-penned "For What It's Worth" which is featured on this greatest hits album. Other notable tracks include "Bluebird", "Expecting To Fly", "Mr. Soul" and more. The album reached #42 on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart.
