Chicago X 1979 Australian label award presented to Chicago - RARE
Australian label award from January 1979 to Chicago for the Chicago X album for platinum level sales in Australia. This award predates Australian ARIA awards (Australia's recorded music sales awards, similar to RIAA awards for the Australia market). At this point in time, label awards were the only sales awards issued in Australia. Chicago X, which featured the hit "If You Leave Me Now", the group's first #1 in all of Australia, Canada, Ireland, Netherlands, U.K. and the U.S. The track also won a Grammy award for the group and the album was nominated for Album Of The Year as well. This is a CBS Records Australia label award for the album made in 1979 (note that this is not a RIAA award). Its presentation plate reads "Presented to Chicago by CBS Records Australia for Platinum Record and Tape Sales of Chicago X, January 1979" and features the distinctive Chicago logo.
