Elton John Greatest Hits 1970s "Platinum" award presented to Nigel Olsson - RARE

Vintage and in great condition, this is a 1970s "platinum" label award (i.e. non-RIAA) celebrating Elton John's Greatest Hits album selling over one million copies. Released in 1974, it contained hit after hit of classic Elton John tracks. It went to #1 on the UK Album chart, the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and also the Canada, Australia and other territory charts. It was the biggest selling album in the U.S. in 1975 and was Elton's first RIAA Diamond seller (10 million sold) as well. As of 2016 the album has been certified for 17 million units by the RIAA (see the RIAA certification history of this very successful album in image). Note: This is not a RIAA award. It is presented to Elton's long-time drummer Nigel Olsson, who has played on almost all Elton John albums and tours since 1969.
