Lionel Richie debut RIAA Platinum LP Award

RIAA Platinum LP award for the debut self-titled album from Lionel Richie. Released on Sept. 27, 1982, it was certified Platinum by the RIAA on Dec. 9, 1982 for one million copies sold. "Truly", "You Are", and "My Love" became hits for Richie on his first solo outing, which was actually recorded and released prior to him leaving The Commodores. "Truly" topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album reached #3 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart and #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tally.
