Epic Records label "platinum" award for Molly Hatchet album Flirtin' With Disaster. Released on Sept. 1, 1979, the album was indeed certified Platinum by the RIAA on Feb. 22, 1980 for one million copies sold. It would later go 2x Multi-Platinum. (Note: This is not a RIAA award). Remember original Molly Hatchet members Danny Joe Brown, Bruce Crump, Dave Hlubek, Steve Holland, Duane Roland, and Banner Thomas, who played on this album and all of whom have passed away. Featuring the classic title track, which peaked at #42 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, along with "Whiskey Man", this became the group's most successful album. It rose to #19 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and paved the way for the group to tour with many top rock acts, from AC/DC and Aerosmith to Journey, Def Leppard and more.
