Print Details About this photograph Arthur Gorson photographed Bob Marley in his home country of Jamaica while on assignment for the groundbreaking Rolling Stone article, “The Wild Side of Paradise.” The photograph was taken in a rehearsal space on Island Records founder Chris Blackwell’s property in Strawberry Hill, Kingston, Jamaica – March, 1973. That year, Marley and his band were embarking on their first European tour and recorded their first album for Island Records, Catch a Fire. Shown next to Marley is Neville Williams, bass player of the band Wadada.
