Docosanol is an antiviral agent. Erazaban is a white cream used to treat early-stage recurrent cold sores (cold sores) in adults and adolescents (over 12 years of age). To be effective, treatment with Erazaban must be started at the beginning of a cold sore, before blisters appear. Start using Erazaban as soon as you experience any of the symptoms of a cold sore such as redness, itching, pain, tingling or stinging. Continue use until the cold sore is gone, usually 4 to 6 days. Fever blisters are caused by infection with the herpes simplex virus. The infection can break out when the immune system is weakened, under stress or during menstruation. The virus causes blisters or sores, mainly on the lips.
