Pectodrill syrup belongs to a group of medicines called mucolytics (medicines to help cough). Carbocysteine, the active substance in Pectodrill, changes the structure of mucus in the airways. It disrupts the chemical bonds in their gel phase and normalizes the excessive viscosity of mucus, thus having a positive effect on the excretion of mucus from the bronchi and facilitating its expectoration. Pectodrill is used for the onset of respiratory infections (in the acute stage) associated with a wet cough and difficulty coughing up mucus from the bronchi.
