“The Beautiful Necessity of Joy” came to me while I was deep in thought about what kind of art I want to create, deep in my soul. How I want my art to touch people, and in what way do I want to affect them? What feeling do I want to evoke? What imprint do I want to make in the world? And this vision of a luminous swan flying across the night sky, trailing meteors that were formed from carnations blazed into my imagination. As an artist, I have the privilege to express myself in any way I want, and I want to be a perpetuator of wonder and joy. Artwork has a miraculous effect on an environment, and I want my artwork to bring people to places full of beauty. If I have the power to create any sort of vision, why not choose to create the most wonderous visions I can?
