Scholar's Haven

He spies it, golden lettered embossed upon leather spines, and draws it out. He returns to his desk, clearing a stack of ancient documents to the side and carefully checking for any ink that might smudge his treasured tome. He sinks into his chair and lays the book upon the desk. Opening the volume, he begins to thumb through, the familiar rustle of turning pages soothing him as he scans the chapters for the section he seeks
