Mokume-Gane Buck and Doe Arrowhead Necklaces, Hammered Jewelry

Our interlocking arrowhead buck and doe necklaces have been hand cut on swirls of copper and white copper; mokume-gane.Mokume-gane is a type of Japanese mixed-metal consisting of swirls of different metals layered in patterns as you can see in the picture. This material is unique because it gives the appearance of natural wood grain. When several layers of differently colored metals form a sandwich of alloys it's called a "billet." The billet is then manipulated in such a way that a pattern resembling wood grain emerges over its surface. For this specific listing we have hammered the front side, giving a gentle wave-like surface to it. The back of this piece shows the wood grain just as it is without hammering it. Since there are numerous ways of working the mokume gane patterns, every "wood-grain-like" structure will look slightly different from the picture!
