Antique, late 18th or early 19th century Stoke Upon Trent mulberry/black pearlware transferware side handled pickle or relish dish by Davenport in the Lily pattern. This has a lovely gilded handle that resembles interlocking.  Pearlware is a type of earthenware that became popular during the late 18th century. The glaze on pearlware is plain white with a hint of blue. Josiah Wedgwood, who began selling pearlware in 1779, was inspired by Chinese porcelain to create this iconic pottery.  Pickle dishes are difficult to find pieces.    Measures:  6" x 5 1/4" x 1 3/8" deep Condition:  No chips or cracks.   ***At the time of listing I have 2 available (shown).
