Named and known for its distinct cassia taste, this Rougui certainly hits the mark, with the soft spice and lingering sweetness of Chinese cinnamon, but offers a rich surrounds as well. A well-tempered roasting has brought out the best of the cultivar without any overpowering pungency, allowing the aromatics of sandalwood and a slight florality to complement the cassia in a brothy body with notes of cooked milk and red grape. A supremely satisfying yan cha both for warm as well as cooler days, and from one of the few organic producers in Wuyishan.
