Handcrafted in the Ilocos region, these hair scrunchies are woven with the traditional binakol technique displaying the popular kusikus pattern while using vibrant ube (purple) color. Kusikus is a circular pattern known for its dizzying appearance, said to ward off malevolent spirits and strong winds. Ube, a popular ingredient from the Philippines, is a native sweet purple yam with a characteristic violet hue. Make: Completely handmade with handwoven fabric. Individually sewn. Care: Machine wash on gentle cycle. Read more about weaving of Ilocos here. Learn more about ube here.
