Black, Starr & Gorham sterling silver cocktail shaker, in Mid-Century Modern style in beautiful geometric design. It measures 8 3/4'' in height by 5'' in width by 4 1/3'' in depth, weighs 20 ozt, and bears hallmarks and engravings as shown.  The oldest continuously operating jewelry firm in the United States, Black, Starr & Frost also produced objects in silver. Already in 1860, the company received an order for more than $12,000 of jewelry and silverware from Edward, Prince of Wales. In 1929, Black, Starr & Frost merged with Gorham Corporation, and was renamed Black, Starr, Frost-Gorham.  During the heyday of American silver manufacturing, approximately 1850–1940, Gorham was highly influential.
