Ansel Adams (February 20, 1902 – April 22, 1984) is perhaps the most well-known national park photographer of all time. His work is still revered today and his images continue to command record fees at auctions. In 1968, his images were featured on a series of posters created by the Department of the Interior and National Park Service. Mesa Verde National Park, located in Colorado, preserves the ancient cliff dwellings of the Ancestral Pueblo people.
