Woodland Phlox
Phlox divaricata Also known as Wild Blue Phlox, Louisiana Phlox, Blue Woodland Phlox, Sweet William, Wild Sweet William. A lovely semi-evergreen, rhizomatous perennial that gently spreads through stem-rooting, creating beautiful mats of lush foliage. Woodland Phlox is native to rich woods, fields, and along streams in east Texas and throughout central and eastern U.S. and Canada. Showcases fragrant purple-blue flowers in spring that attract butterflies. Thrives in humusy, medium moisture, and well-drained soil, preferring partial to full shade. It loves rich, moist, organic soils and benefits from a light summer mulch to help retain moisture and keep its roots cool.
