Weeping Muhly
Muhlenbergia palmeri Common names include Weeping Muhly, Southwestern Muhly, Palmer's Muhly This semi-evergreen perennial clumping grass grows 18-20 inches tall. It has delicate leaves with a weeping habit. In fall, small chocolate flowers emerge as spikelets and later become attractive seed heads that provide winter interest. Weeping Muhly grows naturally in rocky drainages and sandy soils. Once established, it is drought tolerant. It appreciates full sun and good drainage. The old growth can be trimmed back in late winter (February) to make room for new foliage - just be sure to leave enough old growth to act as insulation in case of a late freeze!Height: 2’-3’Spread: 3’-4’Bloom: September-DecemberLight: Full SunWater: LowZone: 7-10Origin: Arizona, northern Mexico Synonyms: Muhlenbergia dubiodes
