Carex Blanda Common names include Woodland Sedge, Eastern Woodland Sedge, Common Wood Sedge, and Creek Sedge. A lovely, rhizomatous, evergreen sedge that grows into neat, compact clumps. Its shiny, deep green leaves stay vibrant all year round. In late spring, charming green flower spikes emerge gracefully above the foliage. This plant thrives in partial sun to partial shade and prefers moist to mesic soils. It truly shines as a ground cover, especially in woodland or shade gardens, where it can create a welcoming and lush environment. Additionally, Woodland Sedge works beautifully in Shade Gardens, particularly when grouped or massed with colorful wildflowers and/or ferns. It aids in erosion control. This wonderful sedge is an excellent native alternative to the popular Asian groundcovers Liriope muscari and Ophiopogon japonicas.   BONAP MAP Height: 1'-2’Spread: 1'-2’Bloom: April-MayLight: Part Shade-Full ShadeWater: MediumZone: 4-8Origin: Texas, Central and Eastern U.S. and Canada
